CLOSER TO YOU – Christmas and Romance – What could be better?

Congrats to our winner, Judy Forte-Brown. Please email melissa@novelpublicity.com to claim your prize!

Closer To YouThis month I have a brand new book, and I'm taking you to the Lake Tahoe winter wonderland where the brilliant, sexy scientist Ian Callaway is about to meet an equation he cannot figure out in the unpredictable and beautiful Grace O'Malley. Ian is brought together by Grace's estranged father, when he agrees to deliver a package to Grace on the way to a science conference in Tahoe. Little do Ian and Grace know that their lives are about to collide in a huge way!

Grace wants nothing to do with a man who follows in her father's footsteps, but a sudden snowstorm, a little boy in need of some Christmas magic, and a series of escalating dangerous events lead her down a path she never expected to go. Not only is her life on the line but also her heart!

I loved writing Ian and Grace's story, especially since it's set at the holidays, which allowed me to include some heartwarming Christmas magic against a backdrop of mystery and suspense.

I'm also a frequent Tahoe traveler, and I've wanted to set a book in this location for a long time. If you've never been to this incredibly gorgeous lake that sits between California and Nevada, you'll want to put it on your bucket list for a trip someday. The mountains are majestic, the lake wide and deep, the towering trees just perfect for hiding secrets like the ones in my book.

CLOSER TO YOU is the third book in the Callaway Cousins and the eleventh book in the overall Callaway Series. All my books stand on their own as each is a complete story unto itself.

If you're daunted by investing in a long series, you can read CLOSER TO YOU as a standalone, or you can start with the Callaway Cousins, which begins with IF I DIDN'T KNOW BETTER, followed by TENDER IS THE NIGHT, a novella TAKE ME HOME, and then CLOSER TO YOU.

ctycommenttowinI hope you enjoy a holiday escape in this new book. I'm a big fan of Christmas holiday movies. I think it has something to do with my mom, because it was something we always did together from the time I was a little girl. Her favorite was Miracle on 34th Street. And I loved the scene at the end (spoiler alert) where the little girl suddenly sees the house she asked Santa for…

What about you? What's your favorite holiday movie? Are you a fan of the heartwarming holiday story? Do you start playing Christmas music after Thanksgiving? Have you ever experienced a Christmas miracle?

Yes, I love Christmas stories . I’m excited to read Closer To You. What could be better than reading about the Callaways at Christmas? :)

I love watching all the old Classic Christmas movies, but the latest one I enjoy is A Dog Named Christmas (A Hallmark Movie).

My Christmas miracle was the first year that my dad passed away. We were all gathered at my house like we always do and were talking about my dad and how we missed him. Then, right at that moment, my doorbell rang but nobody was there so I closed the door. The bell rang again and finally after three times, I simply said “come in dad” and the doorbell stopped ringing. So I truly believe my dad came to spend Christmas with us.

    Barbara says November 29, 2016

    Love this story :-)

    Barbara,

I’m sure your dad was at your door on Thanksgiving; as I’ve experienced somewhat of the same thing in my life more than once; since my dad passed away on November 13, 1977. Many times when I went back to the home I grew up in just outside Pittsburgh, PA, I would know he was around as my mom and I could smell the odor of a cigar, that he only ever smoked in the yard; which became somewhat eerie as it seemed to be when my mom and I were in a manner of discord. It seemed as though, he was telling us both to “chill” and step back and it worked each time we “chilled”; as the cigar smoke dissipated! Your story brought tears to my eyes! I hope you and your family have a very happy holiday season; that is basically, now upon us!

Joanne roderigues says November 29, 2016

And yes I do start playing holiday music after the US Thanksgiving (but not the Canadian one – that’s too early). No Christmas miracles yet but everyday ones, for sure.

The addition of a little boy in need of some Christmas magic definitely piqued my interest in Closer To You!

I love christmas stories and the music of Bing Crosby.

Gwen Larson says November 29, 2016

So… back when I worked at a newspaper, we did an informal survey of favorite Christmas movies. Now, you have to understand that folks in newsrooms are an odd bunch. We look at the world just a bit skewed because answers included the first Die Hard movie. My response was Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd. Hey, it takes place during the holidays!

Judi Ruch says November 29, 2016

My favorite holiday movie I think has to be Miracle on 34th Street. I like both the new and old versions.

I love a Christmas story or movie

Colleen OMara Harding says November 29, 2016

I’m so glad the Callaway series continues, I wait patiently (or not) for every “next” book in the series! You get so attached to your characters, it’s like you’ve lost a close friend every time you finish a book!

My favorite Christmas movie is It’s a Wonderful Life, with Jimmy Stewart – Christmas always begins when it comes on!

My favorite Christmas “miracle” is one year when my boys were still little, I didn’t have any money for presents, or “Christmas ” dinner groceries and my boys were beginning to doubt there was a Santa for them! I told them to go through the house and choose something that reminded them of their brothers ( you can imagine some of their choices LOL) We wrapped them in Christmas paper and put them under out pitiful tree, expecting the next morning to be full of laughs and groaning. Amazingly I received a check that week and was able to go out and buy a few Christmas surprises. After the boys went to bed, I carefully unwrapped all of their “presents” and re-wrapped them with the new surprises. Imagine their faces the next morning, while expecting to “prank” their brothers with their “presents” and unwrapped new toys instead! Later sitting down to a real Christmas dinner. The amazement and awe in their little faces kept the Christmas “miracle” alive for many years to come, and still remains one of their favorite Christmas’s they like to share with their children!

Jackie Neilson says November 29, 2016

I love all holiday movies!
My husband was serving his country in Germany, for 6 years, 1986-92 and one Christmas his parents came over for a month. The week before Christmas, we went on a holiday, first to Basel, Switzerland, then Bern. We had gone for supper, then joined the crowds of people out walking. In the distance we could hear Christmas Carols being played. As we got closer and closer to the sound, we discovered it was coming from inside the train station. I remember there being floors of stores, all closed for the night, but we kept walking in search of the music. It was a Rimba Band playing the Carols which echoed through the train station. We will never get the sound out of our heads. . That was now 26 years ago. His patents are no longer with us, but the memory of that night was magical and forever etched in our minds. It was a very special Christmas.

Phyllis Perkins says November 29, 2016

I loove the holidays! I watch all the Christmas movies I can find. But I think my favorite is White Christmas with Bing Crosby.. Christmas music starts playing with the black Friday/Thursday sales and stays on until Christmas. Baking Christmas cookies with my grandsons and watching them play with the animated decorations at my house are my favorite things. Probably because this is what my kids did with my mom and dad too.

Nancy says November 29, 2016

I absolutely love the oldies (Miracle on 34th street and White Christmas are tied for favorites!). There are several so it is too hard too choose! Sadly, due to being totally deaf now (recent event for no known reason) I can no longer play Christmas music but I still sing them to myself starting with Santa’s appearance in the Macy Parade which has been a tradition since my birth and not a day sooner. My entire family knows Christmas is my favorite time of year. As for miracles, other than 2 grandsons being born in December, I personally have not had the blessing of a miracle. Sure wish I could experience at least gaining some hearing but know that isn’t possible since I’m not eligible for implants etc due to health. However, my miracle wish this year is someone local that could teach me to sign or lip read. LOL Now, you’ve asked followers about their miracles—what about YOURS?????? Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

I absolutely refuse to play Christmas music until Thanksgiving has its due but that night and next day I begin parking on the Hallmark Channel for all the Christmas movies and then I have to carefully scrutinize the new Christmas Albums out and buy at least 1 to 3. My favorite Christmas movie is Pocketful of Miracles with Bettie Davis and Glen Ford. It made me believe that anything was possible and a close 1.5 or 2nd, is White Christmas because I always wanted to own an Inn like one the General has. What a great retirement spot or I could hope to be Jill Shalvis neighbor at Lake Tahoe which I did get to visit and you are right, it is exquisite scenery. Merry Christmas Barbara Freethy and thank you for all your wonderful stories!

Rebecca Lamb says November 29, 2016

I had a coworker who brought in these beautiful angels made from antique tea towels. I told her I wanted two for my grand daughters, she asked me what their names were, I said I do not have them but pray God will grant me two I will do all I can to teach them to be women of faith. Delaney was born in 2006 and Lindsey the following year. I tell them they are answered prayers.

Love Christmas music-have the radio set to a station that plays it 24/7 the day after Thanksgiving. As for Christmas movies, my husband’s favorite all time movie is White Christmas! I am not sure if I can pick since I am one of those girls that love one thing in one movie -if it is romantic and another if it is comedic. Hope that makes sense! Do love this series though and can’t wait to read this book and see how Ian finds his true love finally. Never been to Tahoe…my grandfather has a huge mural one their wall of the lake- my grandmother brought it home in the early 1980’s. (That was a true love story)

Oh my favorite holiday movie, well I’m a kid at heart so The Grinch with Jim Carrey lol I do love a good heartwarming holiday story though. I love watching the hallmark channel and right now it’s filled with Christmas movies. Yes! Christmas music must be listened to immediately after Thanksgiving! Because the tree goes up and Christmas decorations too. I don’t know about the Christmas miracle but I was very pregnant on Christmas in 2003 and to me it was a miracle he didn’t decide that he was gonna be a Christmas baby lol no, he waited until New year’s eve he decided let’s be born on the last day of the year haha. But I guess besides that no I guess I’ve never experienced a Christmas miracle. Maybe that’s why I read about them? Big Hugs and thank you for the chance! I really enjoy your books!

This book sounds like a perfect holiday escape! I look forward to reading it.

Karen Wagner says December 4, 2016

I love the two movies Holiday Inn and White Christmas, it doesn’t seem like Christmas until I watch them. I also love watching the Hallmark Channel’s christmas movies. I love your books and can’t wait to read the Closer to You.

Joyce Johns says December 4, 2016

I think that Christmas music before Thanksgiving is much too soon. I am a much closer to Christmas person to start feeling like “the season”. My favorite Christmas memory as a little girl is when I was 4 or 5 years old. I received a nurse doll and it was all I wanted.

Sandra Spilecki says December 4, 2016

It’s been a lot of years since I (we) have watched any Christmas movies so I couldn’t name a
favorite movie if I tried. We usually spend our evenings reading and enjoying each other’s company.

Marianne Donovan says December 4, 2016

I love Christmas songs and they usually start playing BEFORE Thanksgiving! Fav holiday movie is It’s a Wonderful Lift.

Donna Voss says December 4, 2016

My Favorite holiday movie is “the Holiday”with Jude Law, Carmeron Diaz, Kate Winslow, and Jack Black. I love romantic movies and this one is a winner! Yes, I have been playing my Christmas CDs for weeks! The best miracle is the birth of the baby Jesus, God’s son. Can’t beat that for a Christmas Miracle for all mankind!

Cynthia Cirkl says December 4, 2016

I am looking forward to reading Closer to You. It gets so hectic around the holidays that it is like a mini-vacation to escape into the world that you create and simply enjoy reading. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
